SUDBURY -- Police have charged a 45-year-old man with impaired driving causing death in connection with a fatal snowmachine crash that killed Tyler Christine-Bourgeois, a 20-year-old from Azilda, in March.

The incident took place March 7, when Tyler and his friend went under the ice on Bass Lake while they were being pulled behind the accused's snow machine on snow racer sleds. 

His friend was rescued, but Tyler was not recovered from the water until the following morning.

After several months of investigation, a 45-year-old man from Trent Lakes was arrested and charged on July 15 with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, operation of a vehicle while impaired causing death and driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in the bloodstream causing death in connection to the fatality.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on Oct. 29. 

None of the charges has been proven in court.
