Snowmobile hits house in northern Ont., driver found hiding under a tarp

A snow machine driver fled after the vehicle hit “the air conditioning unit of a home on Third Avenue,” police said in a news release Wednesday.

“The driver had fled on foot prior to police arrival.”

The driver was found “hiding in a nearby shed, under a tarp. The driver's licence was discovered to be suspended under the criminal code.”

The 34-year-old suspect is charged with driving while prohibited, resisting police, trespassing at night, failing to report a collision and careless driving.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on April 9 in Cochrane.
