SUDBURY -- The Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police say officers were conducting a general vehicle patrol on the afternoon of March 15 when they noticed a motorized snow vehicle on OFSC Trail D approaching the intersection of Highway 539.
According to the OPP, officers stopped the snowmobile and investigation revealed the driver had been consuming alcohol and subsequently failed a roadside test.
Police also discovered the driver was disqualified from operating a motor vehicle.
As a result, a 56-year-old individual from River Valley was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired -Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
- Operation While Prohibited
OPP say the driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the motorized snow vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in April in Sturgeon Falls.
