SUDBURY --
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Greater Sudbury, North Bay and other parts of the northeast that could include 90km/h winds and nickel sized hail.
The severe thunderstrom alert was issued mid-afternoon Sunday and is expected to continue into the evening.
Severe thunderstorm watches go into effect when conditions have the potential to produce large hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall.
Other parts of the northeast including North Bay, Algonquin Park, Burk’s Falls and Chapleau are also listed in the alert.
“Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles,” read the statement issues by Environment Canada.
