SUDBURY -- A 34-year-old woman is facing mischief charged after an incident Aug. 2 in Sault Ste. Marie.
In a news release Wednesday, Sault police said the woman called them at 9:55 p.m. to report someone had tried to abduct her.
"She alleged a man attempted to pull her into his vehicle on Albert Street, then fled the area after she was able to get away from him," police said. "Shortly after speaking with police, the accused posted information about the alleged encounter on social media."
An investigation uncovered information that led police to "believe the accused provided false information to police and in her social media post."
She was arrested Aug. 4 and charged with public mischief. She is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 5.
