City officials in Sault Ste. Marie tell CTV News that the waterfront boardwalk will remain closed Wednesday, August 28 until further notice as inspections and repairs are ongoing.

Sault Ste. Marie's waterfront boardwalk has been forced to close temporarily Tuesday, August 27 due to water levels.

The City of Sault Ste. Marie's Public Works and Engineering Service Department says:

"With the significant rainfall experienced recently, high water levels and strong winds, portions of the waterfront boardwalk will be closed today. Staff will be on site to monitor areas until the water subsides and repairs can be made."

City officials ask the public to be cautious and obey all signage that is posted in the area.
