SAULT STE. MARIE -- A healthcare worker at Sault Ste. Marie's Hospital has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Sault Area Hospital says the worker was tested after beginning to show symptoms and has remained in self-isolation since.
Confirmation on the test was returned on April 17, according to a media release.
"We know there is currently community spread of COVID-19 and we urge our community to continue to practice physical distancing, wash their hands frequently and stay home," said the hospital in the release.
"We have confirmed all appropriate and best practice infection prevention and control measures were taken to avoid the spread among staff and patients."
The hospital says its working with Algoma Public Health to ensure those who were impacted are notified.
