Mining giant Vale’s Sudbury operations could be facing production cuts and possible layoffs.

Sources tell CTV a meeting was held last week where employees were shown a company video that suggested costs need to be trimmed.

Sources said the company wants to cut $200 million from its Ontario operations and as many as 700 workers could be affected.

When contacted by CTV, Vale public relations officials said: “We have been open with our employees about the challenges our business is facing.  These are internal discussions, and we have no announcements."
