Ontario Provincial Police closed a large stretch of Highway 11, north of North Bay, Thursday afternoon.
Police say a tractor trailer carrying large pipes lost its load.
The road was closed between Collins Drive and Highway 65 East in Temiskaming Shores in order to clean up the wayward pipes littering the highway.
Police recommended a detour of Highway 63 through Quebec.
No injuries were reported.
OPP say officers from Temiskaming are investigating the commercial vehicle crash that has closed the road on Highway 11.
Police say the 29-year-old driver from Winnipeg has been charged with careless driving.
The highway was reopened around 8 pm.
