Provincial police search for northern Ont. hit-and-run suspect

Provincial police are investigating a hit-and-run collision on Highway 63 in Eldee Township, Ont., that occurred last week.

Members of the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment received a call regarding the single-vehicle collision at about 2 p.m. on July 11, police said in a news release.

“Through investigation, the lone driver of a red pick-up truck (shown above) drove off of the highway into the bush,” said police.

 “Then fled from the scene on foot.”

The OPP Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit attended the scene to assist in the investigation.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.

On Sunday, OPP released images of the vehicle and the scene and is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the missing driver.

Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
