Provincial police bust a pair of Sudbury stunt drivers over the weekend
Two local drivers were stopped by provincial police for stunt driving over the weekend.
Both drivers were travelling more than 50 km/h over the posted limit and were charged with stunt driving on local roadways.
“(On) March 23, members from the Sudbury TIME (traffic incident management and enforcement team) OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) charged a 23-year-old driver from Sudbury, who was traveling 169 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone on Highway 69,” said police in a social media post.

Last year, OPP officials in northern Ontario said following a pause during the pandemic stunt driving in the region is again on the rise.
Court-imposed penalties for stunt driving may include a fine of up to $10,000, a driver’s licence suspension of up to three years and/or up to six months in jail. In Ontario, drivers face a minimum first-time fine for stunt driving of $2,000 upon conviction.
“The OPP would like to remind the public, to slow down and drive safe,” police said, in both social media posts.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
