TIMMINS – The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88 in Timmins had a busy October 23 afternoon.
Members of the legion were filling up bins and preparing for the days leading up to Remembrance Day.
Legion officials say Timmins will soon start to see the flowers in stores and different organizations throughout the city.
Money collected is used to help local veterans who live at various senior's residences or who may need assistance at the hospital.
Timmins Mayor George Pirie also proclaimed October 25 to November 10 to be Poppy Week and raised a flag.
"A lot of people, what they do on Remembrance Day is that after the ceremony, they will lay their poppy by the cenotaph again as a symbol of recognizing those that have passed on either during the wars or during the conflicts that Canada has served," explained Andrea Villeneuve, Sergeant at Arms, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 88.
Villeneuve says they will look forward to seeing everybody at the cenotaph on November 11.
