SUDBURY -- Great Sudbury Police say four kittens were rescued from an apartment building dumpster overnight.
Police received the animal distress call around 2:20 a.m. May 13.
Officers met the caller at an apartment complex on Edmund Street, a residential neighbourhood near downtown Sudbury, police said in a news release. The kittens could be heard crying and moving inside an industrial garbage bin.
"Officers, with the assistance of the caller, gathered and removed four small kittens from the dumpster, taking them to a cruiser to keep them warm," the release said. "The kittens were brought back to headquarters and are currently safe."
The kittens will be placed with a local rescue, 4Champ Animal Rescue, that has nursing mother cats.
