Police investigate death in northern Ontario community

The remains of a 44-year-old person were found Tuesday morning on Delamere Road in French River, Ontario Provincial Police said.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were dispatched at 7 a.m., prompting an ongoing investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police’s criminal investigation branch, along with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

“The investigation is continuing, and further updates will be provided when available,” police said in a news release.

“There is no threat to public safety at this time and residents of the area should expect to see an increased police presence.”
