SUDBURY -- A 32-year-old Sault Ste. Marie man is facing several charges after police raided his home armed with a search warrant.

Officers with Sault Police's crime suppression unit, drug enforcement unit and emergency services unit made the arrest in the 800 block of Second Line West on June 8.

"A subsequent search of the accused and the area of arrest found him to be in possession of 1.9 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine," police said in a news release Tuesday.

They also uncovered a loaded sawed off shotgun, a sawed off double barrel shotgun with the serial number tampered with, shotgun ammunition and a stun gun.

He is charged with eight counts of possession of firearm when he is prohibited from having weapons, three counts each of careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of prohibited firearm with ammunition.

He is also charged with tampering with serial number on a firearm, possession of a controlled substance and breach of probation.

He is being held for bail court, the release said.
