Pedestrian killed in collision on Hwy. 17 in Massey

One person was killed in the collision that closed Highway 17 for several hours Thursday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release that a pedestrian was struck and killed by a commercial motor vehicle just before 2 a.m. on Highway 17 at Birch Lake Road.

“A person, 33 years old from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the OPP said in a news release.

The highway was closed for approximately seven hours.”

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the OPP traffic incident management enforcement team.
