Pedestrian killed after being struck by pickup truck in North Bay
North Bay police are investigating after a female pedestrian struck by a pickup truck Thursday evening died of their injuries.
The collision took place around 5:30 p.m. in the area of Gormanville Road near Birchwood Road.
“A pickup truck struck a pedestrian,” police said Friday in a news release.
“Members of the North Bay Police Service and area emergency services attended the location. The victim was transported to hospital, however, was later pronounced deceased.”
Gormanville Road was closed until 9:30 p.m. as police investigated the scene.
No charges have been laid “at the time,” police said, but the investigation continues with help from traffic collision investigators from the Ontario Provincial Police.
“The North Bay Police Service reminds all road users to be vigilant and attentive,” police said.
“In the winter months visibility can be limited as daylight hours are reduced and inclement weather occurs more frequently.”
