Northwestern Ontario woman charged in connection with teen's death

A 32-year-old woman from Shoal Lake 39 First Nation has been charged in connection with the death of 18-year-old William Prince this past January, according to an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) news release.

Prince, a local of the Indigenous community of Shoal Lake, was located on a roadway in the First Nation on Jan. 17 and was later pronounced dead.

The suspect was arrested on Oct. 9.

As a result of a joint investigation by OPP and the Treaty Three Police Service, a local woman is charged with impaired driving and failing to stop at an accident resulting in death.

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 7.

None of the accusations has been proven in court.

OPP officials said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
