Ontario Provincial Police in Atikokan are investigating a suspicious residential fire.

Police and fire crews responded around 8:30 p.m. Aug. 14 to a residential structural fire in the Starr Street area of town.

“The single-detached residence was fully engulfed when emergency services arrived on scene,” police said in a news release Thursday.

“No one sustained any injuries because of the fire, which completely destroyed the structure and damaged both adjacent buildings.”

The investigation is being conducted by the Rainy River District OPP crime unit and the Town of Atikokan Fire Rescue Service.
