UPDATE

One man has been arrested in a Schumacher residence by Timmins police after some very tense moments, including the evacuation of several local residents Sunday. 

The immediate scene of the arrest remains under police control while the remainder of the area is being reopened. 

Any residents who were evacuated will be returning to their homes. 

Further details are expected to be released Monday morning.

GREATER SUDBURY - One person is in custody as the Timmins Police Service deals with a containment situation.

Police are restricting public access to a residential portion of Schumacher for what they say are public safety reasons. 

The containment is said to be linked to recent developments for ongoing investigations by the Criminal Investigations Division. 

According to police, this investigation is in search of the current whearabouts of a person of interest allegedly involved in recent crimes. 

Streets with restricted access are the intersection of Grant at Dwyer to Battaccio at Dwyer and from Father Costello at McIntyre Road to Father Costello at Boundary Road. 

The Timmins Police Service Emergency Response Team has been deployed. 

Police are asking for the public's cooperation as they continue to investigate.
