Northern Ont. porch pirate charged with stealing mail

A 33-year-old suspect has been charged with stealing mail, among other offences, following a report of a theft on Albert Street in Espanola.

Ontario Provincial Police received the report about stolen mail just after 3 p.m. Wednesday.

“Police were directed to a compound where the suspect was last seen,” OPP said in a news release Thursday.

“Police searched an outbuilding that was on the property and located the individual inside.”

The accused is charged with two counts of stealing mail, break and enter, theft under $5,000 and opioid possession.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Jan. 15.
