Northern Ont. police arrest second Moosonee stabbing suspect
Two suspects are in custody following a stabbing that sent two people to hospital in northern Ontario, police say.
Emergency responders were called to Moose Drive in Moosonee shortly after 7 p.m. May 11 and found two people with serious injuries from multiple stab wounds, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.
They were taken to hospital by ambulance.
Three days later, with the help of the James Bay OPP crime unit, OPP forensic identification services and OPP provincial liaison team, a 41-year-old local man was arrested.
He is charged with forcible confinement, aggravated assault (party to an offence) and failing to comply with a release order.
Police found the second suspect, 22-year-old Kadeem Williams of Scarborough, during a search at a home on Pakeishimon Street in Moose Factory shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday.
"This successful arrest was made possible due to the numerous tips and information provided by the public," OPP said.
Williams is charged with two counts of aggravated assault and failing to comply with a release order.
Police believe the stabbing to be a targeted attack and do not foresee an immediate threat to public safety," OPP said.
