Northern Ont. police arrest 2 people for drug trafficking in same town on same day
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged two Kapuskasing residents with drug trafficking and other charges in two separate incidents on the same day earlier this month.

The first incident
Shortly after 3 p.m. On April 5 shortly after 3 p.m., OPP officers responded to a call regarding an assault that allegedly took place on March 30.
“The suspect in the case was located and arrested for the assault,” said police in a news release.
“During a search incident to arrest, police seized drugs suspected to be methamphetamine.”
As a result of the investigation, a 51-year-old local man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm and two counts of drug trafficking.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 29.
The second incident
Later that day, shortly before 9 p.m., provincial police responded to a call from a business on Cain Avenue regarding an “unwanted person.”
“Police attended and arrested the subject of the complaint on an unrelated arrest warrant,” said OPP officials.
During the arrest, police searched the accused and seized a quantity of suspected crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl.

As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old woman has been charged with entering premises when entry was prohibited and two counts of drug trafficking.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 13.
None of the accusations has been proven in court.
