The Sault Ste. Marie Diocesan Council of the Catholic Women's League of Canada are hosting the 97th Annual Diocesan Convention this weekend in North Bay.

More than 150 women are representing 32 councils of the CWL to pray together, learn and share stories.

The Sault Diocesan president Karen McDonald told CTV the convention will be discussing hospice and palliative care.

"They like to come together once a year, because we are such a vast diocese," said McDonald.

"Sometimes that's the only opportunity they have to meet with certain friends that they met last year in the Sault. It's a sisterhood of the league, the members, there's just that special bond."

McDonald said there is an opening mass Friday evening at Holy Name of Jesus Parish with dignitaries and she added the group's national president will be in attendance.
