Northern cadets training at North Bay military base

Share

Twenty-five cadets ages 13 and 14 from all over Ontario are undergoing a two-week training program on North Bay's military base.

The teenagers are learning about fitness, citizenship, leadership, armed forces culture, building friendships and doing field training activities.

"The program just goes around a lot of activities and it helps the cadets develop skills, into personal skills, problem-solving skills and just becoming better Canadian citizens," said Navy Lt. Sabrina Vachon.

The program is led by some senior cadet staff and experienced military members.

"I've learned a lot, mostly leadership, marksmanship and different skills to help me later on," said cadet Cora Keats.

"Leadership, communication, working in groups, just learn to work together. We've done a bit of marksmanship, that was fun, I enjoyed that. We march around a lot."

The program will wrap up next week.
