North Bay teen charged with damaging police car, assaulting officer

A 17-year-old from North Bay, Ont., is accused of damaging a police cruiser and assaulting an officer at the local police station over the weekend.
On May 25 at about 5:15 a.m., the youth was at the North Bay police headquarters for an “unrelated matter” and became upset, the North Bay Police Service said in a news release.
“As the youth was speaking to police, they became upset and walked out the front doors at police headquarters and damaged a marked police cruiser,” said police.
“The youth was subsequently taken into custody and brought inside police headquarters. While being processed the youth assaulted a police officer.”
As a result of the incident, the teen has been charged with mischief and assaulting a peace officer.
The 17-year-old accused cannot be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The accused was later released to their parents with a future court date.
None of the allegations has been proven in court.
