A 39-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman have been charged with drug trafficking in North Bay following a traffic stop Aug. 17.

The arrests took place around 9:30 a.m. when police stopped a vehicle on Lakeshore Drive. It turned out the female suspect was a suspended driver.

"As part of a search of the vehicle, police located a quantity of drugs and drug trafficking equipment," police said.

"Both accused were arrested and charged."

Police seized drugs suspected to be 35 grams of fentanyl and four hydromorphone pills with a combined street value of $7,000. Drug trafficking equipment was also seized.

The man and woman are each charged with drug trafficking, while the woman is also charged with driving while suspended and the man is charged with failing to comply with a release order.

They both were held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
