SUDBURY – Just after 12 a.m. in North Bay on October 9, police responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store on Cassels Street.
It is alleged that the accused entered the store brandishing an edged weapon and wearing a facial covering.
He approached the cash register and made demands to the customer service employee to acquire his money.
The accused then turned to a patron in the store, still with the edged weapon in hand, and made demands to that patron to acquire his money.
But the patron had something else in mind.
"A struggle ensued between the accused and patron… who was able to restrain the accused and hold him until the arrival of police," said John Shulz, North Bay Police Service.
Upon arrival, police arrested and charged a 35-year-old North Bay man with:
- One count of Disguise with Intent
- One count of Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Two counts of Robbery
Both male victims did not incur any physical injuries as a result of the robberies.
