North Bay man charged with attempted murder in weekend stabbing

A 30-year-old North Bay man is in police custody after a stabbing Sunday morning sent another man to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics called police around 7:15 a.m. March 10 to report a man who was found with multiple stab wounds in his upper body at a home on Massey Drive, North Bay police said in a news release Wednesday.

He was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.

"Upon investigating, officers discovered that the accused, who is known to the victim, began stabbing the victim with an edged weapon after a brief altercation," police said.

"After the altercation the accused fled the residence."

The suspect was identified by the criminal investigations section (CIS), forensic identification and canine units.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was located early Tuesday morning by the emergency response team, street crime unit and CIS.

The accused was taken into custody without incident and charged with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous and two counts of breaching probation.

He was remanded following a bail hearing March 12 and is scheduled to appear in court again March 19.
