North Bay Battalion down 2-0 in playoffs as captain returns from suspension

Share

The North Bay Battalion returns to home ice Monday looking for its first win in the best of seven series against the Oshawa Generals in the OHL eastern conference championship.

After losing the first two games in Oshawa, the Troops lost 2-4 on Friday and were shutout 0-3 Sunday.

"Goaltender Mike McIvor stopped 35 of 37 shots for the second-seeded Battalion," the team said in a news release.

"Captain Liam Arnsby returned from a six-game suspension handed down after a head-checking major and game misconduct he received in a 5-4 road win April 3 over the Kingston Frontenacs in the first playoff round. The Battalion took the series in five games before sweeping the Sudbury Wolves in a conference semifinal."

The next two games are in North Bay at Memorial Gardens, Monday and Wednesday.

The winner of the Round 3 playoff series will take the Bobby Orr Trophy.

It is the third year in a row the troops are playing in the eastern conference final.

The Battalion are the only northern team left in the playoffs.
