Nipissing-area parents soon to be able to opt into receiving texts or emails when school buses are delayed or cancelled
Nipissing-Parry Sound Student Transportation Services (NPSSTS) is preparing to offer a new service to parents, guardians, school staff, school board officials and any other stakeholders with regards to transportation delays and cancellations.
The transportation service is scheduled to launch BusPlanner Notifications on Friday.
The system will deliver email and/or text messages to subscribed recipients whenever a delay, cancellation or any other events that warrants an alert.
The system is customized to allow subscribers to only receive alerts for the routes that they specify and will also permit NPSSTS to send out general messages to all subscribers.

“The current communications systems will be maintained as we work through the implementation to ensure continued delivery of this important information,” said the transportation service, in a news release.
“The website will continue to host the information for those with limited access to technology. We look forward to the roll out of this tool with a vision of better meeting the needs of all the members of the school community.”
