The elderly man is in intensive care in Sudbury, and his wife was flown to a special burn unit in Toronto after a fire Monday night on Barrydowne road near Cambrian College.
Fire officials arrived on the scene just after 7:30 last night and the house was fully engulfed in flames. Fire officialssay they believe the fire originated from the basement of the house.
An elderly couple and a tenant are the only occupants of the house.
Mike Valiquette, Sudbury Fire Platoon Chief says "A tenant had already got out of the building and one of the elderly owners was out of the building also with some injuries. We had to rescue an elderly woman that was trapped in the building we rescued her, and both elderly owners are at the hospital right now in I-C-U." He also indicated the estimated damages at 300-thousand dollars.
