New free arts space for youth opens in North Bay
An exciting new arts space has finally opened, it is called Digital Creator North and is located in the Capitol Centre in North Bay’s downtown core. The brand new state-of-the-art facility allows youth aged 11-19 to be creative and express themselves through different types of media and art with state-of-the-art equipment.
"Coming off of the pandemic I think a lot of young people are eager to do something, eager to connect with friends," said co-founder Holly Cunningham.
"They're all digital natives, they've grown up using digital technology since a very young age so instead of using technology in isolation or in their own home they can actually come here, be creative, be producers."
The space is open three nights, Tuesday through Thursday, a week and is free for all youth.
Cunningham told CTV News it is the only space like this in North Bay and more are needed in the region.
"Just to kind of give kids a leg up. Give youth the opportunity to have the same learning experiences, and experiment with technology, and maybe have an entry point into an industry or some time of creative practice," she added.
For more information on upcoming events at the space visit their Facebook page.
