TIMMINS -- The Porcupine Health Unit is reporting more cases of COVID-19 in the Timmins area.
The Medical Officer of Health says one case is linked to community transmission, after a man in his thirties presented for testing at the Lady Minto Hospital in Cochrane on Sunday, March 22.
The doctor says they believe three other new cases are linked to international travel or contact with another case its investigating.
Health unit officials say it will not be doing media releases with each case going forward, but will provide daily updates on its website and social media channels.
"We expect to see more cases, but we can slow down the spread if everyone stays home as much as possible," said Dr. Lianne Catton.
"If you must go out, plan your errands to minimize the contact you have with other people. That’s the best way to control the spread of COVID-19. We’re all in this together. We must all do our part.”
