A 37-year-old Sudbury man has been charged with arson after a house fire on Manitoulin Island in April, police say.

Police and Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands Fire Department were called to a seasonal property on fire on Indian Mountain Road in the Sheguiandah area shortly after 2 a.m. April 6, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release.

No one was home at the time of the blaze, OPP Const. Jessica Gilbertson told CTV News.

The investigation is ongoing, but police said a suspect has been charged with arson damage to property, in an update Monday morning.

No word on how or if he has ties to the property.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Gore Bay on July 2.

"If anyone has any information regarding the investigation, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122," OPP said.

"Should you wish to remain anonymous, you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or submit information online at www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000."
