Military search and rescue crews from Trenton and Ontario Provincial Police were called in to help Friday night, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre said on social media.

"The occupants of the vessel were hoisted aboard a CH-146 Griffon (helicopter) and transported to safety while a CC-130H provided top-cover," the JRCC said.

A photo provided shows a rescuer aboard the Lund fishing boat at night with two adults bundled up inside while the water rushes by.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, Maj. Mathew Strong told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in a phone interview.

The boaters were rescued about five hours after the call for help was made.

What happened to the boat is unknown.
