How to watch the 2023 CTV Lions Children's Christmas Telethon

Share

Once again, the annual Sudbury tradition of the CTV Lions Children's Christmas Telethon returns Saturday, Dec. 2 and is marking a major milestone with its 75th anniversary this year.

ABOUT THE SHOW

The popular live nine-hour televised show features local talent performing in an effort to raise money to help make Christmas wishes come true for thousands of northern Ontario children.

It all started in 1949 when members of the Sudbury chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartets pitched in to help the Salvation Army raise $500 by singing Christmas carols downtown.

The Lions Club of Sudbury got involved in 1972 and MCTV–CTV was brought on board in 1998.

In 2022, the telethon raised more than $320,000 and sent out more than 18,000 toys for deserving local children.
