Fatal crash in northern Ont., 2 dead, 3 injured
Provincial police in northwestern Ontario are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 525 near Minaki, Ont., about 50 km north of Kenora.
On April 13 at about 3 p.m. members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment along with fire and emergency medical services responded to a fatal single motor vehicle collision.
“Two individuals have been pronounced deceased at the scene,” said police in a news release.
“Three other occupants have been transported to hospital by EMS to be treated for their injuries.”
The OPP initially announced they were investigating a “serious collision” in a tweet shortly after 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing with OPP collision re-constructionists assisting.
Police have not released any details about the identity of the victims or the cause of the crash.
Highway 525 was closed at the Minaki junction for almost 12 hours, only reopening shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Sunday.
