SUDBURY -- While many enjoyed New Year's festivities in northern Ontario, some families were celebrated with new babies.

Here is a glimpse at the first babies born on New Year's Day 2020 at four northern Ontario hospitals.

North Bay

Melanie Poisson and Justin Glynn welcomed their son, Bryson, at 12:52 p.m. Jan. 1 at North Bay Regional Health Centre.

Sault Ste. Marie

The first baby born at the hospital in Sault Ste. Marie finally made his appearance early New Year's morning at 1:31 a.m

Mother Amy McKay says Maxwell Lincoln James Shackleton took his time, as he was due on Christmas.

The baby weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and was greeted by his family.

Sudbury

Meet the first baby born at Sudbury's Health Sciences North 2020.

Jyoti and Nehal Vyas welcomed the first baby of 2020 at Sudbury at Health Sciences North New Year's morning.

A baby girl named Siya was born at 12:06 a.m. weighing 7 lb 7 oz and 20 in long at birth.

Timmins

Reena Ashley Rose Crawford made an early appearance.

Her mother Charlene says she was due on Feb. 6, but her daughter had other plans.

Reena Ashley Rose arrived at 5 a.m. at Timmins and District Hospital on Jan. 1, missing her aunt's birthday by one day.

She was 5 lbs 4 oz and 16.75 in long at birth.

Charlene says her daughter is doing well and is expected to remain in hospital for another two to four days.

This little bundle is named after her great grandma.
