Mama bear mode shown in Sudbury video

Share

A video captured by a Sudbury man shows a black bear appearing to steer her cub away from the traffic on a busy street and into the bush.

Chris Swain said the bears were spotted near the curling club off Howey Drive in the Minnow Lake area a little more than a week ago.

Watching the mama bear walk backwards across Wessex Street while putting herself in between the baby and danger is a sight many parents can relate to.

As the pair make it across the street, the video shows the tiny cub bound toward the wooded area and into safety.

The City of Greater Sudbury maintains a map of bear sightings in the area to determine patterns and intensity.
