SUDBURY -- A 44-year-old woman from Blind River is facing impaired and other charges after police saw her driving without headlights Nov. 2 at 10:30 p.m.
When East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police pulled her over on Causley Street in Blind River, she drove onto the sidewalk, blocking the intersection at West Street.
"The driver exited the vehicle to speak to the officer, until the driver noticed the car was not in park and began rolling backwards towards the OPP cruiser," police said in a news release Wednesday. "The driver was able to put it in park."
She is charged with impaired driving, failing to surrender her license and driving without headlights.
The woman is scheduled to be in the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on Jan. 5. The car was impounded for seven days and the driver was issued a 90-day licence suspension.
