In his first game in a Greyhound’s uniform, Taylor Raddysh played a starring role in Wedesday night’s home game against the Saginaw Spirit.

He scored twice in his debut, one on a pass from fellow necomer, Jordan Sambrook, as the Hounds beat Saginaw 3-1.

“When you go with a deal like that, with me and Jordan, you always have a little bit of high expectations, so for us to have a good start, with a win and both contribute, it was big for us.” said Raddysh.

The star forward played with an OHL point leader, Morgan Frost, and fellow Team Canada member, Boris Katchouk. The trio seemed to find instant chemistry.

“I played with Boris a bit in the World Juniors and I’ve known him for a while back to our younger years. Frosty’s a really skilled guy, can make plays and as you can see out there, he made my job easier to just go to the net and just find a way to put it in.” said Raddysh.

Greyhounds Head Coach, Drew Bannister was pretty happy with the new guys, saying more time together will help even more.

“Yeah, I thought they played real well and I think as they go on the chemistry will get better, but certainly I think, you know, they’re probably looking for each other. I think once they get over the blue line here, they have to have more of a shoot mentality; especially if you’re odd man, outnumbered in a situation, so that’ll come.  It’ll come with time.” said  Bannister.

The coach also praised the play of veteran goaltender, Tyler Johnson, calling it a “bounce-back” game, as Johnson made 29 saves for the victory over the Spirit.

There was a scary moment in the second period when star defencemen, Connor Timmins, went out with an apparent lower body injury. Following the game he was feeling okay and by Thursday, was walking around normally.

The Hounds next game is at home Friday night as they host Owen Sound.
