Home sales dip in North Bay in September
Home sales declined in North Bay in September compared to a year earlier, but sale prices held firm, according to data from the Canadian Real Estate Association.
A total of 100 homes were sold last month, a drop of 6.5 per cent compared to last September and 14.1 per cent below the five-year average in the city.
"On a year-to-date basis, home sales totaled 811 units over the first nine months of the year," the CREA said.
"This was down by 6.9 per cent from the same period in 2023."
The average price of a home sold last month was $444,928, up slightly from a year earlier.
"The more comprehensive year-to-date average price was $463,832, a moderate gain of 6.9 per cent from the first nine months of 2023," the CREA said.
In the Sault, 154 homes sold last month, up a whopping 24.2 per cent compared to September 2023.
So far this year, sales are up 9.1 per cent compared to 2023, but still lag behind the five-year average by 4.3 per cent.
"The average price of homes sold in September 2024 was $322,589, increasing by 13.2 per cent from September 2023," the CREA said.
Sales were also strong in Greater Sudbury, where the sale of 253 homes in September was an increase of 21.1 per cent compared to the same period in 2023.
"On a year-to-date basis, home sales totaled 2,016 units over the first nine months of the year," the CREA said.
"This was a gain of 10.5 per cent from the same period in 2023."

The average price of homes sold in September 2024 was $497,681, increasing by 10.7 per cent from September 2023.
In Timmins, sales dipped slightly in September, with 98 sold, down two compared to 2023.
"Home sales were 27.2 per cent below the five-year average and 19.7 per cent below the 10-year average for the month of September," the CREA said.
"On a year-to-date basis, home sales totaled 926 units over the first nine months of the year. This was essentially unchanged, down just 0.4 per cent (four sales) from the same period in 2023."
The average price of a home sold in September was $271,440, a up 4.3 per cent from September 2023.
