Highway 144 fully reopened after crash north of Greater Sudbury
Highway 144 has reopened following a single-vehicle collision that sent the driver to hospital with “serious injuries,” police told CTV News.
"As of 3 p.m., Highway 144 was closed due to single vehicle collision,” OPP Const. Phil Young told CTVNewsNorthernOntario.ca in an email.
“Driver was transported by air ambulance to hospital for a leg injury. Others in vehicle were transported by EMS (emergency medical services) to hospital for assessment."
The Ontario 511 Traveller Information Service reported the road was closed in the Cartier area, north of Greater Sudbury, near the Elboga Lake sign shortly before 3 p.m., with the southbound lane reopening shortly after 4 p.m. before the road fully reopened.
However, reports of a crash in the area began to pop up on social media before 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Police have not released any details on the cause of the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
This comes the day after a fatal collision closed Highway 144 in the same area.
