Following the release of its new bus schedule in July, Ontario Northland is making it easier for travelling patients to get to the hospital.
It has added six hospital stops to its routes, hoping to tap into the market of patients needing hospital care, but finding travel difficult.
The transportation company is providing drop-off and pick-up locations for:
- Timmins and District Hospital
- Sudbury's Health Sciences North
- North Bay Regional Health Centre
- Sault Area Hospital
- Temiskaming Hospital
- Englehart and District Hospital
Ontario Northland says there's an apparent need for service across the north east.
Tracy Macphee Ontario Northland
"We're connecting communities in the north and we hear from a lot of our customers they really want to get to and from medical appointments they really want to visit family and friends or even if they are going to a medical appointment they want to bring their family with them. So we have the space availability on our buses we have a comfortable bus so it makes it easy for someone to get to an appointment and get home in the same day." Said Tracy MacPhee, ONR Director of Passenger Operations.
