Ontario Provincial Police in North Bay got a call Monday night from two people who had become lost in the snowstorm while on Lake Nipissing on their ATV.
Police and officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry were able to find the missing pair near West Nipissing by using a GPS and coordinates from the 911 phone call.
After calling police, the pair stayed put, using their ATV and a tarp for shelter.
OPP Staff Sergeant Chris Summersby says it is important to be prepared when heading out on the lake.
"Before you decide to head out onto the lake, check weather conditions to ensure you're not putting yourself or others at risk. Having a GPS with you will also be a great help. The couple did the right thing by staying put and letting the police come to them." said Summersby.
