The former mayor of Cochrane is considering applying for a court-ordered recount after losing by only five votes.

Peter Politis lost the mayor’s chair to Denis Clement during the municipal election on October 22nd.

He says he has no support from the town or new mayor and council for a recount, but wants the votes that were submitted electronically to be recounted by hand due to complications arising from changing the ballot paper size from letter to legal.

Politis tells CTV News he’s contemplating what’s involved with a court order and will make his final decision soon.

He says he supports the new mayor and council, but with such a narrow margin, he says a recount would offer closure.
