The Municipality of French River has declared an emergency due to flooding.
A continuing increase in water levels caused by rainfall and further discharges from the French River Dams, resulted in Mayor Gisele Pageau along the French River Watershed.
Residents are strongly urged to be prepared and to take precautionary measures to protect their property.
The following areas are vulnerable to increased flooding:
- Wolseley Bay area – Highway 528 and 528A and Ash Bay Road
- Ranger Bay area – Brousseau, Leger, Turenne, Jean, Gilbert, Lise, Voyageur, etc…
- Dry Pine area – Baker’s Bay, Whippoorwill, Dry Pine, Cowbay, Highway 607 and 607A, etc..
Residents in need of sand bags, assistance, and to report water hazards and road access issues are asked to contact the Municipality.
Officials are looking for volunteers to assist filling sand bags. Volunteers can call the municipal office at 705-898-2294 to register.
