A former deputy fire chief in Sudbury is now an author and he unveiled his first book on Monday night.Dave Wickenden spent 31 years fighting fires and now he's writing books.

In ‘Defence of Innocence,’ a female RCMP officer is hunting child abusers, but before she can arrest them, they're captured by a vigilante who is looking out for the kids.

Wickenden reveals what inspired him to write this book.

“The biggest inspiration is just all the stories you see in the media of all these children being abused, and it's worldwide. It's growing rather than shrinking. Police are, their hands are tied because of a lack of funds and a lack of manpower.” said Wickenden.

The author says he has another novel ready to go.

‘Homegrown’ is set to be released this summer.
