Hwy. 17 has reopened in both directions following a fatal pedestrian collision

Highway 17 west of Bruce Mines has reopened Saturday afternoon following a fatal pedestrian collision which occurred Friday evening.
"Highway has been reopened," the Ontario Provincial Police said in a tweet just after 2:15 p.m.
The highway was closed between Deplonty Road in Johnson Township to Highway 638 in Bruce Mines; a detour was available via Highway 638.
The Ministry of Transportation confirmed the collision and road closure in a 511 Ontario tweet before 10:00 p.m. Friday.
The MTO also confirmed the highway reopened in a tweet just after 2:00 p.m.
OPP said in a tweet early Saturday morning that Highway 17 was closed due to a fatal pedestrian collision.
"If you have any information, please contact 1-888-310-1122," police said.
CTV News has reached out to the OPP for more information on the incident and has not yet received a response.
